Cory Asbury is an American worship leader and songwriter, born in 1985 and raised in North Carolina. Trained in worship at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, he became known worldwide with Reckless Love (2017), nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019 and named Song of the Year at the 2018 Dove Awards.
Cory Asbury grew up in western North Carolina, where he began leading worship in his church at seventeen. In 2005 he joined the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (IHOPKC) and stayed seven years. There he released Holy (2008), with Matt Gilman, then his first solo album, Let Me See Your Eyes (2009), on Forerunner Music. Associate worship pastor at New Life Church in Colorado Springs from 2012, he signed with Bethel Music in 2015 and appears on the collective's album Have It All (2016).
His song Reckless Love, released in October 2017, preceded the album of the same name, issued in January 2018 and debuting at number one on Billboard's Christian albums chart. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019.
