Hopen is a French pop worship band formed at the end of 2013 by four brothers from Avignon: Antoine, Camille, Armand, and Charles Auclair. Catholic, blending pop and electro-pop, it has released six albums, from “Hopen” (2014) to “La Paix” (2025), and played more than 350 concerts in its first seven years.
Hopen was born at the end of 2013 from four brothers, Antoine, Camille, Armand, and Charles Auclair, from Avignon and raised in a family where faith is present. The name combines “hope” and “open,” to share hope with as many people as possible. The band turned to pop worship, a style nourished by groups such as Hillsong, Elevation Worship, Exo, and Glorious, which they discovered very young. Their music, blending pop and electro-pop, aims to get a congregation singing, especially young people.
Their first album, “Hopen,” came out in 2014, followed by “Merci” (2016), a Christmas album in 2017, and “Que le monde sache” (2018). Before “Frères” in 2022, their albums had sold more than 40,000 copies. “La Paix,” a 13-track record, was released on June 20, 2025. In seven years, Hopen played more than 350 concerts for more than 130,000 spectators and was received at the Vatican by Pope Francis.

How did Hopen begin?
Antoine, Camille, Armand, and Charles Auclair launched Hopen at the end of 2013. They were very young and played in churches, often at the invitation of parishes and dioceses, with a pop and electro-pop sound inspired by English-language worship bands. In January 2017, the Catholic press already noted more than three years of touring across France to lead times of worship.
The first album, “Hopen,” appeared in 2014. “Merci” followed in 2016, then the Christmas album “Nous avons chanté Noël” in 2017 and “Que le monde sache” in 2018, which includes “Tu es là” and “Mi vien pou loué.” In 2022, “Frères,” the fifth album, was presented as a hymn to brotherhood and sharing, with songs such as “Unis comme des frères” and “Que serait ce monde.”
What makes Hopen distinctive?
Hopen stands out for its Catholic roots in the French-language worship landscape: the press speaks of “Catholic pop,” and the band is invited by parishes, dioceses, and schools before being received at the Vatican by Pope Francis. Four brothers who write and play together is also a strong identity: the video for “Que serait ce monde” tells the story of a family of siblings. On November 8, 2023, they played La Cigale in Paris, from which they drew live recordings in 2023 and 2024.
