A Short Prayer When Anxiety Rises
Lord, my heart is racing and my thoughts keep going in circles. I stop and breathe in your presence. You are close to me, and you see me. I lay down here everything that weighs on me, one thing after another. Calm my mind, Father. Give me your peace, the peace the world cannot give. Help me come back to the present moment and take only the next step. I am not alone, for you are with me. Thank you for listening to my prayer. In Jesus' name, amen.
Philippians 4:6-7
A Prayer to Cast My Cares on God
Father, I am tired of carrying all this weight alone. I place in your hands my fears about the future, my worries for those I love and the scenarios I build in my head. You care for me, and you have promised it. Teach me to let go and to trust you, even when I control nothing. Replace my fears with your presence and my dark thoughts with your truth. Give me a night of rest and a calm heart. I lean on you. In Jesus' name, amen.
1 Peter 5:7
A Prayer of Trust in God's Peace
Lord Jesus, you told your disciples not to let their hearts be troubled. You know my anxieties and you are not ashamed of them. Thank you for never abandoning me in hard times. Today I choose to remember your past kindness and your faithfulness. May your Spirit remind me that you are greater than what frightens me. Keep my heart and my mind in you. Help me to ask for help when I need it. Thank you for your peace, Lord. Amen.
John 14:27

Frequently asked questions
What prayer can I say when I feel anxious?
A simple prayer is enough: "Lord, I am anxious, I give you what worries me, give me your peace." Paul invites us to present our requests to God with thanksgiving, and promises a peace that surpasses all understanding. Praying slowly and aloud also helps to calm down.
Is it a lack of faith to have anxiety?
No. People of faith like David or Elijah knew anguish and told God about it in the Psalms. Being anxious is not a sin, and God does not condemn you. He invites you to come to him. Seeking medical or psychological help as well is wise and fully compatible with faith.
Is prayer enough to be healed of anxiety?
Prayer brings peace, God's support and strength to keep going, but it does not replace seeing a professional. God also works through doctors, therapists and those around us. If the anxiety is strong or lasts a long time, talk about it with a professional and with a trusted brother or sister from your church.
