Lord, I stand before you with my responsibilities. You told me to be strong and courageous, because you are with me wherever I go. Give me that courage today, at work as well as at home. Keep me from pride, anger and passivity. Help me keep my commitments, tell the truth and protect those entrusted to me. May my actions match my faith. Guide my steps throughout this day, and let me finish it with a clear conscience before you. In Jesus' name, amen.
Joshua 1:9
Father, I carry the weight of being the one people count on. Worries about money, work, family or the future wear me down, and I do not always dare to say so. I come to you without a mask. I confess my pride when I try to fix everything alone and my silence when I should have asked for help. I place my burden on you, because you sustain me. Give me wisdom to decide, humility to seek advice and perseverance to stay faithful. In Jesus' name, amen.
Psalm 55:22
Lord, thank you for your faithfulness, which is new every morning. Thank you for my family, my friends, my brothers in the faith and the work you allow me to do. Thank you for forgiving me and for continuing to shape me. I want to be a man of integrity, a present husband or father, a loyal friend. Grow gentleness and strength in me. Start simply, a few minutes a day, with your own words. Give thanks, confess, ask, as in the Lord's Prayer that Jesus taught (Matthew 6:9-13). Read a passage of the Bible and respond to it in prayer. Consistency matters more than length. A brother from your church can also pray with you and support you.
Ask God for wisdom and peace, then seek counsel from people who are mature in the faith. James writes that God gives wisdom generously to anyone who asks (James 1:5). Pray, read the Bible, weigh the facts, and move forward with humility. We leave the outcome with God rather than imposing our choice on him.
Pray every day for their protection, health, faith and joy. Ask God to help you love them with patience and serve them rather than dominate them. Paul urges husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). Bless them with your words and pray with them whenever you can.
