Église Évangélique Libre de Lyon

The Église Évangélique Libre de Lyon (EEL Lyon) is a Protestant evangelical church located at 49 rue Louis, in Lyon's 3rd arrondissement. Affiliated with the Union des Églises évangéliques libres de France (UEEL), it describes itself as "a Church that invites everyone to know Jesus and grow with him," striving to be open and welcoming, faithful and contemporary.

Its history dates back to 1848, when the Terreaux Protestant parish joined the newly formed Union des Églises libres. After decades of inactivity, the church came back to life in 1965 when a missionary settled in Lyon's 3rd arrondissement with around twenty members. It later grew on rue Louis and planted congregations in Saint-Fons and Saint-Genis-Laval. Today's pastoral team includes Frédéric Hubault (pastor), Annabelle Mariano (youth and evangelism), and Luc-Henri Pampagnin (coordinator).

On Sundays, the church gathers several hundred people across two services plus an online service, with programs for children (nursery, Arc-en-ciel, Sunday school) and young people (Caté Club, Coda, GDJA). Community life also includes shared meals ("Tables d'hôtes"), small groups, an Alpha course, and a missions committee, all in a spirit of closeness and sharing.

The Église Évangélique Libre de Lyon shares its sermons and services on its YouTube channel, as well as on Facebook and Instagram, and offers a podcast for those following along remotely. Its website, eel-lyon.org, presents its vision and calendar and lets visitors get in touch before a first visit.
