Who is 純福音東京教会 (Full Gospel Tokyo Church)?
Full Gospel Tokyo Church is a Protestant church located in the Kabukicho district of Shinjuku, Tokyo, housed in an eight-story building marked by a white cross that glows at night. Its history began in 1974 with the visit of a Korean missionary to Japan, and in 1977 three expatriate families who were members of the Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul started gathering for home worship in Tokyo. A church building was established in Shinjuku in 1979. The church belongs to the Full Gospel Japan Association and its mother church is the Yoido Full Gospel Church in South Korea, founded by Pastor Yonggi Cho. Since November 2014, the senior pastor has been Shigemasa Shigaki.
The church emphasizes what it calls the Fivefold Gospel, the Threefold Blessing, and Fourth Dimensional Spirituality, teachings drawn from its Korean mother church. It holds several Sunday services in Japanese and Korean, along with weekday services, a Sunday school, a youth ministry, and two Bible colleges.
