Migiwa grew up in Kawasaki, in Kanagawa prefecture, in a Christian family where she attended church and sang in the choir from childhood. A shy, introverted child, she dreaded school and, in her third year of junior high, gradually withdrew and stayed home: several years of social isolation followed, marked by deep distress. Church remained her only safe space during that time, and a pastor's words echoing Isaiah 43:4, "you are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you," became a turning point in her recovery.
Moved in 2000 by the authentic gospel music she discovered in the United States, she began her music career in 2001. In August 2006, with the support of Takekawa Yukihide, a former member of the band Godiego, she released the album 蟻と宇宙 (The Ant and the Universe), which earned her the Gospel CCM Award for Artist of the Year. In 2009, a throat illness left her unable to sing for a year; she trained in Texas with the missionary organization YWAM before returning to the stage in 2010. Since 2011, she has also given volunteer concerts in disaster-stricken areas of Japan, particularly in Tohoku.

How did Migiwa get started?
Withdrawn at home for a long time after dropping out of junior high, Migiwa found in church the only place where she felt safe. It was a word she heard there, taken from Isaiah, that set her rebuilding in motion and gradually brought her back to singing.
In 2000, discovering American gospel music acted as a spark and pushed her to go professional as early as 2001. Support from musician Takekawa Yukihide, a well-known figure in Japanese rock, opened the door to a first album that made an impression in 2006.
