1. 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."
This verse lays the foundation for all Christian identity: in Christ, your old life no longer defines who you are. It is not an upgrade of the old self, but a new creation altogether. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17.
2. Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me."
Paul describes an exchange here: his old self died with Christ, and now it is Christ who lives in him. Your identity rests on this love that gave itself up for you, not on your performance. Read Galatians 2:20.
3. Ephesians 2:10
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them."
You are not an accident or a product of chance: you are God's workmanship, shaped with intention. Your good works flow from this identity, they do not build it. Read Ephesians 2:10.
4. Romans 6:4
"We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life."

5. Colossians 3:3
"For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."

6. John 1:12
"But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name:"
Becoming a child of God is not something earned but a right given to those who receive Jesus. It is the doorway into all of Christian identity. Read John 1:12.
7. Romans 8:15
"For you didn't receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!'"
The Spirit you received is not a spirit of fear but of adoption: he lets you call God "Father" with the same intimacy as a child. Slavish fear no longer has any place. Read Romans 8:15.
8. Romans 8:17
"and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him."
Being a child of God opens onto an inheritance shared with Christ himself. Even suffering endured with him is woven into this destiny of glory. Read Romans 8:17.
9. Galatians 4:7
"So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."
The move from slavery to sonship is a complete change of status, given by grace. You no longer have to beg for a place: it has already been given to you. Read Galatians 4:7.
10. 1 John 3:1
"See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn't know us, because it didn't know him."
John marvels at this love that makes us children of God, not symbolically, but truly: "and so we are." Even if the world does not understand this identity, it remains true. Read 1 John 3:1.
A New Position in Christ
11. Ephesians 1:3
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,"
Every spiritual blessing has already been granted "in Christ": nothing to conquer, everything to receive by faith. This reality reshapes how you see what still seems to be lacking. Read Ephesians 1:3.
12. Ephesians 2:6
"and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,"
The believer is already joined to Christ's resurrection and exaltation. This heavenly position precedes and grounds every earthly experience. Read Ephesians 2:6.
13. Colossians 1:13
"who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love,"
This is not a mere moral improvement but a transfer of kingdoms: from darkness into the light of the Son. Your allegiance has switched sides. Read Colossians 1:13.
14. Colossians 2:10
"and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power."
Nothing is lacking for the one who is in Christ: he is united to the one who reigns over every authority. Looking for identity elsewhere means overlooking a fullness already granted. Read Colossians 2:10.

"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
Guilt no longer has the final word for the one who is in Christ. This absence of condemnation is a legal status before God, not just a feeling to cultivate. Read Romans 8:1.
Loved, Chosen, Secure
16. Ephesians 1:4
"even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love,"
God's choice does not date from your conversion: it precedes the creation of the world. You are not an afterthought but a plan willed from eternity. Read Ephesians 1:4.
17. John 15:15
"No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn't know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you."
Jesus raises the relationship from servant to friend: one of trust and confidence. Your identity includes this closeness that Christ himself chose to give. Read John 15:15.
18. Romans 8:38-39
"For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God's love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Paul deliberately lists everything that might seem threatening: nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate the believer from the love of God. This security is an integral part of identity in Christ. Read Romans 8:38-39.
19. Zephaniah 3:17
"Yahweh, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing."
God does not merely tolerate his child: he rejoices over him with singing. This image overturns any shame that might try to settle into the believer's heart. Read Zephaniah 3:17.
20. Psalm 139:14
"I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well."
Even before the new creation in Christ, David praises God for the way he was formed. This worth given by the Creator precedes and accompanies the identity received in Christ. Read Psalm 139:14.
Called to Live This Identity Before the World
21. 2 Corinthians 5:20
"We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God."
Reconciled, believers in turn become ambassadors of that reconciliation. Your identity is not only received, it is also a mission entrusted to you. Read 2 Corinthians 5:20.
22. Matthew 5:14
"You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can't be hidden;"
Jesus does not say "you must become" but "you are": light is already part of the disciple's identity. It shows up naturally, like a city that cannot be hidden. Read Matthew 5:14.

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light,"
Peter stacks up the titles (chosen race, royal priesthood, holy nation), to describe an identity that is collective as much as individual, oriented toward proclaiming the works of God. Read 1 Peter 2:9.
24. Philippians 3:20
"For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,"
