It all began at Indiana Bible College, where Tauren Wells co-founded the group Royal Tailor in 2004 with three classmates. The group took several years to break through, until artists Leeland and Jack Mooring passed their demo along to a record label. Black & White came out in 2011, followed by a self-titled album in 2013, both nominated for Grammy Awards.
In 2015, after several years of intense touring, Royal Tailor split up. Wells would later say the group was working well, but the team was simply exhausted. He then chose to continue on his own, carrying the same calling to write for the Church.
